Christian Egal
A professionally qualified engineer with 30 years experience, Christian is the founding CEO of EDF Energy Renewables (EDR ER), a joint venture between EDF Energy and EDF Energies Nouvelles.
EDF ER is dedicated to the development and responsible for the delivery of EDF Group's renewablse objective in the UK to increase net equivalent wind capacity to between 800-1000 MW in the next 5 years, with current construction of onshore windfarm (currently 180 MW under construction) and offshore windfarm (Teesside, North East, 62 MW). Christian was responsible for the launch of the company and isnow overseeing the management of a development team, the establishment and follow-up of partnerships with other developers and the acquisitions of projects or companies
Formerly Managing Director of Gamesa Energie in France, leading a 25 people development team, Christian has been in renewables for over 10 years, and is extremely passionate about the industry.
Adrian Hodges
Adrian Hodges works with global companies seeking innovative market access and localisation strategies to help grow and sustain emerging market and developing country businesses. Alongside advising business executives, he also counsels governments and NGOs looking to create value for their respective stakeholders through public private partnerships, pro-poor economic development and collaboration on social issues.
Adrian’s expertise derives from his experience in senior management positions at ethical retailer The Body Shop International and healthcare business GlaxoSmithKline, and from working closely with Fortune 500 business leaders when he held senior roles at Business and the Community and the International Business Leaders Forum - two organisations credited with shaping our understanding of the role of business in development. He has first hand knowledge of forging cross sector partnerships on the ground in different cultural and political contexts and at a global policy level.
Adrian is a regular public speaker and media commentator on corporate responsibility, sustainability and international development. With Professor David Grayson he has co-authored two critically acclaimed books: Everybody’s Business (Dorling Kindersley/Financial Times 2001) and Corporate Social Opportunity (Greenleaf Publishing 2004). Adrian has served as a member of the UNDP Growing Inclusive Markets Advisory Board and Inter-American Development Bank CSR Americas committee. He has lived and worked in North and South America and currently lives in London where he runs his own advisory firm.
Paul Dowling
Over 20 years experience in the renewable energy industry. Currently working as Director Mentor and investor mostly in the energy area. Previous roles including head of Strategy for Scottish and Southern Energy Group covering strategy formulation, ventures investments, and research activities for the SSE group. Prior to this heading the renewable energy business for SSE as CEO.
From 1997 to 2008, Paul was part of the team that created and sold Airtricity for €1.8 Billion. Paul is a Chartered Engineer with an Engineering Degree from Dublin Institute of Technology and an MBA from Trinity College. He is a past chair of the Irish Wind Energy association.
