Our Approach

How we work

Renewable World works in partnership with local organisations and communities, providing financing, capacity building and technological expertise to transform our partners’ ability to tackle poverty though renewable energy.

Collaborative Partnerships

Renewable World works collaboratively with a range of partner organisations, from CBOs (community-based organisations), NGOs (non-governmental organisations) and social enterprises to small scale businesses and entrepreneurs.

We tailor our support to the specific needs of each partner. Capacity building is at the heart of what we do. We work with partners in a manner which is enterprising, appropriate and transformative, in line with our values. We empower partners to deliver activities to maximise poverty alleviation opportunities for poor people through access to affordable sustainable renewable energy services.

Renewable World’s six areas of support are shown in our intervention model. Skills, expertise and knowledge are leveraged from the renewable energy industry, from academic institutions and from our own highly qualified staff team. If you are an organisation interested in working with us to harness renewable energy to alleviate poverty please visit our partners page for criteria and instructions about how to apply.

Appropriate Technologies

Renewable World engages with four primary technologies: small wind, micro-hydro, PV solar and biogas. Appropriate technologies are selected with partners to respond to community needs and natural resources available.

Cross Cutting Themes

Renewable World works with partners to embed sustainability, gender equality and climate resilience into all our programme activities.

Renewable World is committed to being a learning organisation, developing our knowledge and approach and sharing these as we increase the geographic range of our impact.

We aim to empower partners and pride ourselves on our ability to broker productive partnerships for the benefit of poor people.
