Past Programme Activities
Since it was started in 2007, Renewable World has brought the benefits of renewable energy to rural communities in more than seven countries around the world including Uganda, Mozambique, Peru and Nepal.
In 2010 the organisation made a strategic decision to focus on building programmes across three regions – Central America, South Asia and East Africa. This programme approach allows us to be more strategic in how we plan and implement our work as well as enabling us to select partners according to more clearly defined criteria linked to knowledge of development outcomes, quality of community relations, needs assessment capacity and technical skills in implementation of small scale renewable energy systems.
Through focusing on regional programmes we can increase our contribution, and that of our supporters, to promote appropriate, sustainable development in communities affected by energy poverty by more effectively combining our link to local partners on the ground with our unique relationship with the renewable energy industry in Europe and beyond. We are also engaging in sharing good practice and knowledge between our partner organisations and across geographic divides, harnessing practical learning to continuously improve our work.
